大方村是大方镇下辖的行政村，镇政府驻地即在该村。村委驻地古称大风寨，因地处山区、枫林茂密，树大拉风而得名；后人觉得村名的「风」字不雅，遂改「风」为「方」。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时属大濂乡，新中国成立后起初只是一个行政管理村。进入五十年代，村名先改为大方乡；1958年组成大方人民公社中的大方生产大队。到了1983年，它归大方区下的大方乡政府管理；1987年设村委会；1989年改由大方管理区办事处管辖，1999年才恢复为大方村民委员会。[2]

截至2019年，全村总人口2349人，划分为14个村民小组。村内设有木岭咀经济合作社，成立于2008年。[1]

2021年9月，大方村列入广东省农业农村厅公布的第二批「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单。2021年12月，广东省爱卫会授予大方村「2021年广东省卫生村」称号。2023年4月，大方村列入「2022年广东省乡村治理示范村」创建单位名单。[2]
