鸡林村依山坡而建，村址所在的地势形如一只鸡，村名由此而来。村中现有覃、陈、龙、梅、何、钟等姓氏。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年前，鸡林村属四宁乡。1950年划为三区，立鸡林行政村；1953年改设乡，1958年成为生产大队，1983年设乡人民政府，1987年改设村委会，1989年起为管理区，1999年再为村委会。1955年归建城区，1957年并入通门乡，1993年起由通门镇人民政府管辖。[2]
