历史沿革[edit]
明代设封门巡检司。这里曾是瑶、壮族人往来出没之地，郁南建县前尚属偏僻山区；平定之后于此设千户守御所，分置营汛戍守。因“封门”令人联想到官府查封而有所忌讳，人们便依“封”“通”读音相近而意思相反，改称通门。[1][3]
民国初年叫通门乡，之后并入西宁乡，改名永安乡。新中国成立初设通门行政村，归第三区管辖。1953年又改为通门乡。1958年并入东方红人民公社，作为其下的管理区；1961年由东方红公社划出，另立通门公社，并定下今日的辖界。1983年改设通门区，1987年再改为镇。[3]
2022年1月，通门镇被命名为「2021年度广东省卫生城镇」，并被确定为「2021年广东省乡村治理示范乡镇」创建单位。2021年9月，通门镇以肉桂入选「第三批广东省“一村一品、一镇一业”专业镇」。[1]
地理环境[edit]
通门镇属亚热带季风气候，雨量充沛，土地肥沃。境内矿产有钽矿和锡矿。环县道X474线穿过圩镇通往罗定市，2019年升级为省道S294；县道X854通往广西的筋竹镇。[2][4]
经济[edit]
据2025年5月镇政府的报道，肉桂的种植面积为12万亩，由5000余户农户规模种植；全镇还组建了5个肉桂专业合作社。同期报道的森林覆盖率为90.3%。[5]
镇政府以肉桂为主导，推行“1+N”特色产业：竹笋为10000亩，百香果3000亩，与桂花梨1200亩、珍珠番石榴1500亩并列；玉堂、百贤、双就、鸡林、罗沙等村还探索培育茶叶、青梅、鹰嘴桃、释迦和栗子。[6]
名胜古迹[edit]
圩镇偏北的一处纪念馆以「郁南县民众武力指挥部纪念馆」为名，是云浮市和郁南县的中共党史教育基地。镇内景点还有向阳湖景区。[4]
