金旺村位于桂圩镇，驻地地形似田螺，建村时取名“金螺”，建行政村时改为寓意兴旺的“金旺”，沿用至今。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时金旺属桂河乡，建国后归桂水乡一带。1950年归郁南县第一区，成为桂水行政村；1953年成立桂水乡，1958年更名金螺生产大队。[1]

此后1983年设立金旺乡人民政府，1987年成为村委会，1989年一度为管理区，1999年复为村委会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，金旺村列入「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」名单。[1]
