五龙村属都城镇，为镇乡结合区内的行政村。建行政村时，驻地周围有五座山，山形似五条龙汇聚于此，村名由此而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

康熙元年（1662年），梁氏先人迁入今都城镇一带定居。此后袁、黄、王、肖、陈、李、刘、谢、谈、聂、曾、莫、曹、苏等姓陆续迁入，以谈姓为最多。[2]

1950年起村地属郁南县第一区，设五龙行政村，1957年至1958年间为生产大队，之后数度改为乡和管理区。1975年至1983年上半年归都城镇管辖。1987年1月改设五龙村民委员会，1999年起沿用至今。[2]

广东省爱卫会于2020年12月将「2020年广东省卫生村」称号授予五龙村。[1]
