湾中村是河头镇下辖的行政村，村名取自河流转弯处的聚落。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1950年，此地划归新兴县第五区，编为湾边乡；两年后改设湾中乡，并于1953年建起农业合作社。1958年转入河头乡，同年11月划入东风公社湾中大队，1961年改隶河头公社。1983年设为河头区公所下的湾中乡，辖有若干自然村，当时以经济社相称。1986年设湾中管理区，1999年改为湾中村民委员会。[1]

2024年3月，村里获得「2023年广东省卫生村」的命名。[1]

经济[edit]

2021年9月，湾中村进入第二批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村之列，产业为竹笋。[1]
