元头岗村是天堂镇下辖的行政村，村名来自村后的一座黄土岗：岗上寸草不生，只长着野草，远望很像一颗人头。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年10月，这里属新兴县第五区廿四乡。1958年属东风公社；1980年由原大队分出，设元头岗大队。1983年撤销人民公社，改称元头岗乡；1986年11月设元头岗管理区，1999年改为元头岗村民委员会。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，元头岗村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
