枫洞社区位于镇乡结合区。村周围遍生枫景树（即水松树），地名取于此。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
枫洞是一座古村，最早建村的时间在唐末宋初，约960年前后。[2] 1949年为新兴县第一区枫良乡的枫洞村；1955年归南平区枫桥乡，叫枫洞大队；1958年并入红旗公社；1961年归环城镇，叫枫洞村。1964年改为环城公社的枫洞大队；1984年设环城区公所枫洞乡；1987年为环城乡枫洞管理区；1994年改归新城镇，仍叫枫洞管理区；1997年成立枫洞社区居民委员会，延续至今。2019年9月，社区入选2018年度「广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1][2]
