南外社区属镇中心区，地处旧县城南门之外，今天已在县城范围之内。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
据记载，一千多年前高、祝、柯三姓先人已在此定居，形成最早的聚居点。宋宝佑四年（1256年）李氏始祖大椿公迁来，元至元二十三年（1286年）甘氏始祖绍富公迁入。[2] 1949年归一区附城镇，叫南外村；1958年属红旗公社；1964年归环城人民公社，设南外大队。1994年改归新城镇，叫南外管理区；1999年为新城镇南外村委会；2002年4月撤销村民委员会，改设南外社区居民委员会。[2]
