侍郎社区位于新城镇中心区。明代永乐年间，官洞人陈鼎官至刑部右侍郎，县衙前一带（今中山路县学工会处）竖起「书锦牌坊」，俗叫侍郎牌坊，村名即源于此。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1949年为新兴县第一区附城镇的侍郎村；1951年归城关镇；1958年列入红旗公社，1959年改称城关镇侍郎大队。1968年一度改名为民大队，1982年恢复侍郎大队的名称。1987年起隶属新城镇，定名侍郎社区居民委员会。[1]
