村名取希望村民富裕、自强之意。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年，此地设富强大队，归六都公社管辖。1970年，村改由六都公社管理，仍设富强大队。1983年转属六都区，改设富强乡。自1986年10月起隶属六都镇，按辖镇（乡）辖村的做法设富强村委会；1989年改为管理区，1999年再设富强村民委员会，延续至今。[1]

2019年9月，富强村入选「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]

区政府的记载称，富强村委下辖的思怀村建有富强革命老区纪念亭。[2]
