云城街道位于云浮市城区中心，是云浮市和云城区两级党政机关的驻地。万历五年（1577年）设东安县，此后县治长期设在这一带；民国时期城墙拆除，街道由此形成。[4][2]

街区四周环山，大绀山高1086米，南山河穿街而过。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

街道名称来自旧云浮县辖下附城镇的名字：取「云」「城」两字合成。[1] 万历五年（1577年）设东安县后，这里便是县治所在。民国21年（1932年）城墙被拆，改建为街道；次年改设东安镇。[3][2]

1952年起称云城镇，城区与城郊农村同属其辖。1958年，横岗、高峰、大金山三乡划入，当年9月茶洞乡与之合为云城乡，11月另设东方红公社。1962年，县城东街、西街单独组成云城镇，城郊农村则归附城公社。1983年一度改为云城区，两年后复并入云城镇。[3]

1994年，这里改称云城街道。[3]

地理环境[edit]

地势大体是中部河谷，周边山地环绕，西北一侧较高，东南一侧较低。海拔超过500米的山峰共7座，大绀山高1086米，另有禾枪顶。气候属亚热带季风气候区。[2]

铁路方面，三茂铁路云腰支线伸入街内；公路有国道324线，以及省道和地方公路。[2]

经济[edit]

矿产有硫铁矿、锡矿、石灰岩和大理石。主要农产品为稻谷、蔬菜、柑桔和芒果。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

邓发故居在榃石塘村村东，离公路不远，是清光绪年间建成的两进四合院，以泥砖、瓦和木材构筑。[5] 1979年它被定为广东省文物保护单位，现为广东省爱国主义教育基地，院内设纪念展室，陈列邓发生平。[5]
