大东山村是梅塘镇下辖的行政村，村域在镇的东北面，面积3.18平方千米，辖新寨、老寨两个自然村。[1]
地理环境[edit]
全村耕地550亩，山地1600亩，森林覆盖率95%。[1]
人口民族[edit]
全村784户，常住人口约1500人。[1]
经济[edit]
村中的主要生产是橄榄、水稻和番薯的种植，并养殖鱼类。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
黄姓族人于明嘉靖年间（1522—1566）自福建迁入定居。新中国成立初与邻村合为一个小乡，1958年合为一个大队，1960年析出，独立成队。1981年经地名普查，改名大东山大队。1984年此地成为大东山乡；1986年起设村委会，1990年改设管理区，1999年定为村委会。[2]
文化[edit]
村中先后获得「广东名村」「普宁市美丽乡村」「普宁市文明村」「揭阳市优秀党建示范村」等称号。[1]
2018年7月，大东山村被司法部、民政部表彰为第七批「全国民主法治示范村（社区）」。2020年8月，大东山村被列入首批「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单（青榄）。2023年11月，大东山村入选「百千万工程」首批典型县镇村。2024年4月，大东山村列入广东省第一批乡村振兴示范村的创建对象。[2]
