宅营村在镇西部山里，离镇区较远，村道为泥土路，接入安池公路，天晴时越野车可入村。[1]
茶叶是村里的主导产业，村民多种植并加工高山茶，销路遍及潮汕地区。[1][2]
2020年8月，宅营村入选「首批广东省“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村」，产业为小叶茶。[1]
2024年3月，村子获评「2023年广东省卫生村」；2019年9月，列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单。[1]
