冷美村位于里湖镇西南部，距镇区不远，安池公路（省道）从村中间穿过。[1]
村内由6个自然村组成，村民以种植青榄、青梅和水稻为主，建有青榄基地和青梅基地。[1][2]
村庄于1999年改为村委会，沿用至今。[2]
2020年至2022年，冷美村先后列入淘宝村名单；2024年3月，被命名为「2023年广东省卫生村」。[1]
