尖石村因村口出水处的一块既大又尖的石头而得名，清道光年间已有村落。清末村东侧曾建过尖石圩，里坪公路如今从村前经过。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年公社化时，村内设立大队。1973年，尖石村自成大队。1987年改设村委会，1989年改设管理区，1999年复称村委会。[1]
