新竹村是大坪镇下辖的行政村，原名新圩，距普宁市区约50.6公里，属革命老区。[1]

名称与建村[edit]

清光绪年间（公元1875年至1908年），房姓一支迁来定居，并设圩场。为与大坪圩相区别，名为新圩。后来大坪圩规模扩大，新圩集市渐渐冷落，只剩下聚落的规模。1966年由大坪农场分出，自成行政村，村名取新圩、黄竹坑各一字，定为新竹。[1]

行政沿革[edit]

1999年改称新竹村委会，沿用至今。1990年为管理区，1986年大坪设镇后称村委会，1984年改为新竹乡。1966年由农场分出，成为大坪公社新竹大队；1960年农场设新竹管区；1958年并入南阳山公社。新中国成立前属陆丰县，之后归普宁县。[1]

地理与产业[edit]

村内有耕地884亩、山地1043亩，种植水稻、甘薯和花生，水果有青梅、橄榄、油甘、荔枝和李子等。村内有个体企业3家，里坪公路从村中经过。[1]

荣誉[edit]

「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」名单中有新竹村，时间为2019年9月。[1]

新竹村以青梅入选「第二批广东省“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村」，名单发布于2021年9月。[1]
