上西埔村位于普宁市区东南约10千米处，建村已有四百多年。村子坐落在西埔之上，因而得名。[1][2]

建村与村名[edit]

四百多年前，饶姓一支从大埔县迁来，在此定居。这里原有东西两块埔地，村子建在西侧的埔地上，取名西埔。[2][1]

后来因地势南高北低，此处又另建了一个村子，两村遂以上、下方位相区分。[1]

经济[edit]

农业以水稻、甘薯为主，山林间出产龙眼、乌榄。村中有家庭式的服装加工，多数劳力在二、三产业就业。[1]
