高明村位于普宁市区东南约12.7千米处，村落所在的山岗形似一只卧着的狗，旧称狗眠，早先的村名是九明。[1]

村名与建村[edit]

相传明末，马姓一支从别处迁来，在这座山岗上开村。当地人嫌“狗眠”不吉利，取潮语同音的雅称“九明”，后来改称今名。[1]

沿革[edit]

1958年因修建水库，村民在1962年迁往新址，新址另行取名高明村。1999年1月，经普宁市人民政府文件改称高明村民委员会，此名沿用至今。[2]

经济[edit]

村中以种植水稻、甘薯为主，山地出产橄榄、李等水果。村民多在二、三产业工作。[1]
