据百度百科，村寨建在山的南面，以山的北端为头、南端为尾，村名由此而来。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立初期归普宁县第四区；1983年公社改区，设横山尾乡，隶属南径区。1987年撤区设镇后，本地成为横山尾村委会，之后改为横山尾管理区；1999年定名横山尾村委会，此后延续。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年9月，横山尾村入选第二批「广东省级“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村」名单。[2]
