光南村是燎原街道的行政村，位于普宁市区东北约4公里，背靠铁山，村域连接省道。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村落在元末建乡，位于练江一条支流的南岸，最初称江南乡，后改称光南乡；别名沟南、高南等。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

明嘉靖四十二年（1563年）村地划入普宁县戎水都，此前隶属潮阳。万历十年（1582年）划回潮阳，雍正十年（1732年）又归普宁。[3]

1921年改称光南乡，归流沙区。1937年改属二联乡，1946年隶属二区，1950年归流沙区管辖；1957年归燎原大乡，次年设光南大队，隶属大坝公社。[3]

1974年改属燎原公社，1983年成为燎原区所辖的光南乡；1986年归燎原镇，1991年设光南管区，1999年改设光南村委会，2013年改称燎原街道光南村委会。[3]
