流沙南街道位于普宁市区中部，北面与流沙北街道相接，西面与流沙西街道为邻，东面连接流沙东街道和占陇镇，南面与大南山街道、下架山镇接壤。2000年12月，经广东省人民政府批准，流沙镇撤销，在它南面设立了流沙南街道，名称由此而来。[1][3]

地名与沿革[edit]

民国时期，这里是普宁县第二区区署的驻地。1949年解放后，普宁县人民政府设在这里。1964年11月，流沙人民公社分出流沙镇，成为县城所在的镇。1983年，流沙人民公社换称流沙区；1986年12月，流沙区被撤销，原辖地归入流沙镇。[3]

1924年初，余清华与罗文畅在如今属于流沙南街道的地方开办普济医院，据维基百科所载，这是普宁最早的医院。[5]

人口[edit]

第七次全国人口普查登记的2020年11月1日零时常住人口为65183人，占全市常住人口的3.26%。[4] 据百度百科，截至2017年末，辖区户籍人口为6.43万人，其中农村户籍人口4万人。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2020年9月，阿里研究院公布「2020年淘宝镇」名单，流沙南街道入选。2021年10月，「2021年淘宝镇」名单发布，由阿里研究院与南京大学空间规划研究中心共同推出，街道再次入选。2022年10月，「2022年淘宝镇」名单公布，流沙南街道在列。[2]
