历史沿革[edit]
村名的来历：明代弘治十年（1497年），先祖迁到此地定居，村名因此而来。[1][3]
村子的建制几经变动：1958年为流沙红色公社的新坛大队，1968年改为革命委员会形式的新坛大队；1983年归流沙区新坛乡，1986年设新坛村委会；1991年改设管理区办事处，1999年重新定名为新坛村民委员会，沿用至今。[1]
经济[edit]
村子以商贸为主，加工业和服务业为辅。村集体企业中有流新旅社和粤东货物调运中心，还有流沙水果和茶叶两个专业市场，另有个体企业200多家。[1]
文化[edit]
1996年以来，村子陆续获得民主法治示范村（全国）、群众体育先进单位（全国）、创建文明村镇工作先进单位（全国）以及先进基层党组织（全国）等表彰。2024年4月，村子位列广东省第一批乡村振兴示范村的创建名单。[1]
2020年、2021年和2022年，新坛村先后列入中国淘宝村名单；2023年入选广东省「百千万工程」首批典型村名单（百度百科）。[3]
