地名由来[edit]
村址地势低洼，旁边形成一个小湖，村子位于湖的末端，初称湖仔尾，后改用雅称湖美村。[1]
沿革[edit]
清康熙三十九年（1700年），郑姓先祖自鳌江镇澳下村迁来定居。[1]
1949年至1959年间，村子属东港乡管辖，当时称村。1959年后划归葵潭农场，改称湖美作业区；1999年改为湖美村委会，沿用至今。[1]
位置与产业[edit]
村子西南与陆丰华侨农场接壤，北面与葵潭镇青南径相邻，南面隔田与东港镇宫兜村相望。[1]
村里总人口近740人，耕地816亩，其中水田366亩，果园450亩。村民以种植水果和水稻为主，属纯农业村。[1]
收入多来自子女在外打工和水果收成，多数村民已住进新楼房，并用上了自来水。[1]
