吴畔村在鳌江镇东边，离镇区约2公里，属老苏区。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村名的来历是，村中最初由吴、王两姓分居两侧，「畔」即「边」的意思。后王姓迁往他处，村中只剩吴姓，遂以吴畔为名。[1]

南宋淳佑年间（1241～1252年），吴、王二姓来此创乡。1958年起的公社化时期称吴畔大队；1983年至1986年间改设乡政府；1987年至1999年为管理区；1999年成立吴畔村委会。[1]

文化[edit]

2019年9月，吴畔村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
