新林村位于鳌江镇东侧，距镇区约3公里，由2个自然村组成。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明正德年间，海盗时常侵扰，村民四周筑寨设防，寨名称林厝寨。南宋宝庆年间（1224～1227年），林姓从福建莆田迁来此地创乡。[1]

1958年起的公社化时期改为大队；1983年至1986年间改设乡政府；1987年至1999年为管理区；1999年成立村委会。村名于1963年改为「新林」，并沿用至今。[1]
