月潭村位于龙江河北岸，距镇政府1.5千米，属隆江镇。村名因村前原有一大深潭，由古龙江冲积而成，聚落傍江呈半月形而得。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

村前原有大深潭，系古龙江冲积形成，今已成鱼池。聚落紧靠龙江北侧，呈半月形排布，故名月潭。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

元代已有村落。明正统年间（1436年至1449年），郑姓一支从潮阳神山迁来。1979年12月拆出独立设乡政府，1983年至1986年合并为乡政府，1987年至1989年改为村委会，1989年至1998年为管理区，1999年改为村委会。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

村里有几百年历史的寨墙和大榕树等名胜古迹。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2022年1月，月潭村被广东省乡村振兴局列为「2021年广东省乡村治理示范村」创建单位。2026年1月，月潭村获评「广东省第二批“百千万工程”典型村」称号。[1]
