宫山村属隆江镇，村后是高山。村名原本的叫法为荆山，因潮州话中“荆”与“宫”读音相同，后人改写成宫山。[1]
地名由来[edit]
村后山地高峻，荆藤丛生，俗称荆山。早先村里贫穷、读书人少，后因潮音相近，书写时改用“宫”字，遂成宫山。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
明崇祯年间（1626年至1636年），陈姓先祖从岐石迁来创村。清乾隆年间（1738年至1795年）村民开山造田，散居的人家逐渐聚拢成村。清光绪六年（1880年）以后，居民定居于此。1949年至1958年办初、高级社，1958年至1983年改为大队，1983年至1986年设乡政府。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2019年9月，宫山村列入2018年「广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
