井美村位于镇东面，距镇政府4千米，属隆江镇。村名因村中古井水质甘甜，早年称定美、井尾，后定为井美。[1]
地名由来[edit]
此地地理形势属乾亥龙、乾亥水。开基定居时，村中古井的水清冽甘甜，村名因而取作“定美”“井尾”，后又称“井美”。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
宋末，福建莆田蔡氏一支在潮州府任军事职务，后自澄海迁来，择居立籍。明嘉靖年间（1534年至1544年）遭贼寇抢掠，村民散居山野，至清顺治四年（1647年）才围寨定居。1949年至1958年办农业社，1958年至1983年为生产大队，1983年至1986年改设乡政府，1987年至1998年为管理区，1999年改为村委会。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2019年9月，井美村列入2018年「广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。2019年12月，「第二批国家森林乡村」名单发布，井美村在列。2024年3月，井美村被命名为「2023年广东省卫生村」。[1]
