岗前村属隆江镇，位于镇区北面，距镇政府2千米，有“七乡詹”之说的詹姓聚居。村名因村庄座向东方，西面有一小山岗而定。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

宋末已有林、钟、吴、黄几姓在此立村。村子朝东，村西有一座小山岗，故称岗前。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

旧府县志写作“冈岗”。明洪武年间（1387年至1400年）詹姓迁入；明末诸姓多数迁走，只剩詹、方两姓。1949年至1958年曾办初级社、高级社；1958年起称大队，1983年起改设乡政府，至1986年止。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2024年3月，岗前村被命名为「2023年广东省卫生村」。[1]
