金东村在惠来县城南面约7.1公里，位于龙江、盐岭、雷岭三河汇入神泉港的交汇处，渔农并重，产沙虾、马鲛，并养殖鱼类。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村地原为沙洲，周围遍生胶椗树，又称胶椗洲。元至大元年（1308年），金姓居民在沙洲西侧创村，初名新乡仔，后废。明洪武二十年（1387年），许姓居民到此立村，因在金姓旧村东侧，取名金东洲。1980年地名普查时将其简称金东。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年至1958年间办过初级社、高级社，1958年改为大队；1983年设金东乡政府，1987年为管理区，1999年定为金东村委会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，本村上榜「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单。[1]
