鳌头村在惠来县城南面约4.5公里，依文昌山呈弓状分布，以农业为主，属革命老区。[1]

地名由来[edit]

元至元元年（1335年）前后，曾做过惠州县令的王鳌安从潮阳迁居于此并创立村落。据说村址选在文昌山的落脉处，寄望子孙科举扬名，便取名鳌头。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年至1958年间，随环境变化复称鳌头。1958年至1983年独立成为大队，1983年至1987年设鳌头乡政府，1987年至1999年为管理区，1999年定名鳌头村委会。[1]

名胜[edit]

村后文昌山上有鳌头塔，为明崇祯元年（1628年）所建。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，本村上榜「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单。[1]

2021年12月，广东省爱卫会授予本村「2021年广东省卫生村」荣誉称号。[1]
