濂溪村位于前詹镇西南方向，离镇址约5.5公里，是一个纯农的水库移民村，以种植水稻、甘薯和花生为主要收入来源。[1]
村前有一条溪，流经港寮湾注入南海，涨潮时溪水变咸，村庄原称「盐卤溪」。后因名字不佳，改为「濂溪」。[1]
清代以前已有刘氏在此定居。清乾隆年间（1736～1795年），方氏迁入聚居，遂成村落。新中国成立后曾属秀横湖乡政府，1975年设濂溪大队，1983年设濂溪乡政府，1987年改为濂溪管理区，1999年改为濂溪村委会。[1]
2019年9月，濂溪村被列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
