仕兜村位于前詹镇东部，属镇乡结合区。村民多以种植农作物为生，小部分人捕鱼或从事海水养殖，是一个渔农村庄。[1]

村地原是铭湖中的一座岛屿，三面山丘环绕，中间两座小山峰突起，初称「屿兜」。因潮音「屿」与「仕」相同，后来书写时改为「仕兜」。[1]

明万历年间（1612～1620年），方氏到此创村。1949年后村名沿用，1958年设仕兜大队，1983年设仕兜乡政府，1987年设仕兜管理区，1999年成立仕兜村委会。[1]

2019年9月，仕兜村被列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
