后池村在靖海镇的西南面，地形属于半沙滩丘陵。村名因村后的一井一池而来。[1]
地名与历史[edit]
村后有一口井和一个池塘，俗称井脚池，村子因此得名。[1]
明成化年间，程姓人从福建来到南海边的赤沙澳建村。明弘治年间（1488年至1505年）遭遇寇患，村民迁往后程埔；万历后期（1609年至1619年）迁到现址，村名一直未变。[1]
此后村子几经并乡：1949年并入一个乡，1956年又随乡并入他处，1958年成为靖海公社下的一个大队，后来改称后池大队。1983年设后池乡政府，1986年改为管理区，1999年才设后池村委会。[1]
人口与经济[edit]
博雅地名网记载，村中户数为176户，户籍人口为1038人，统计年份未注。在劳动力方面，村中有436人，外出务工的为125人。耕地272亩，水田124.2亩。[1]
村中以水稻、甘薯和花生为主要作物，集体经济较为薄弱。[1]
