厚山村位于靖海镇西石湖畔，是独立设置的行政村。村名取自创村时村前西南面山陵宽厚的景象。[1]
地名与历史[edit]
创村时，村前西南面的山陵宽厚，村子因此称厚山。1950年，因“后”与“厚”潮音相近、易被写混，改称后山；1980年地名普查时，由于与外地一处村名重复，又恢复了历史名称厚山。[1]
南宋景炎年间（1276年），林、王等姓在此居住。1949年后此地先隶属前港山乡，之后归入一个乡的政府，又设后山大队；改设厚山村委会以后曾设管理区，直到1999年才成为现行的村委会。[1]
人口与经济[edit]
博雅地名网记载，全村共333户，总人口1743人，统计年份未注。耕地314亩，水田占122亩，旱园为192亩。[1]
生计以传统的蕃薯、花生种植为主，耕作方式较单调；年人均纯收入为2989元。[1]
