沫港村位于靖海镇西南部，地处半沙滩丘陵地带。村名原写作“漠港”，后因“漠”与“沫”同音而改为沫港。[1]

地名与历史[edit]

村子紧靠狮石湖南岸。旧时村西南有一条河，在村西形成港湾，后被泥沙淤没。村子三面是沙滩，起风时黄沙漫天，于是称“漠港”。[1]

南宋末年已有村落。明隆庆年间（1569年至1572年），陈、林、郑、吴等姓先后迁来聚居。[1]

1949年起称沫港村。1958年并入大队，1973年分出设沫港大队，1983年设沫港村经济合作社，1987年改为管理区，1999年设沫港村委会。[1]

人口与经济[edit]

博雅地名网记载，全村200户，人口1118人，统计年份未注。耕地为390亩，水田占240亩，旱园为150亩；另有林地826亩。[1]

村子属于纯农村，从事农业生产的劳力有400人。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年12月，广东省爱卫会评定沫港村为「2021年广东省卫生村」。[1]
