北星村位于靖海镇区北面，俗称北社，是独立设置的行政村。村名与靖海城北门朝向北斗星的说法有关。[1]

地名与历史[edit]

靖海城设有东、西、南、北四座城门，北门面向北斗星，村子因此取名北星。[1]

村民旧时沿北城门在城墙之内居住。改革开放以后，多数村民转到北门之外建房。[1]

1949年时这里叫靖海镇北星社，后易名北星村。1958年成为大队，1983年改为经济合作社，1986年为管区，直到1999年才设村委会。[1]

人口与经济[edit]

当地以甘薯、花生和蔬菜为主要作物，生产方式单一。农民的年人均纯收入为2948元。[1]
