望前村在仙庵镇最东部的沿海，北与汕头潮南区华林村接壤，东临南海，村子是镇内的水陆交通枢纽。[1][2]

地名与历史[edit]

清顺治年间，村前有一座“狮地山”，原名“望狮山”，因名字不雅改为“望前山”，1950年简称“望前”。[2]

明万历中期，吴、林、许、马、郑等姓居民先后来此聚居。百度百科作此时已有聚落，博雅地名网则作明万历中期（1585～1595）创村，两者年代略有出入。[1][2]

经济与土地[edit]

全村面积约110公顷。耕地中旱园126亩；另有防护林约450亩；养殖方面，滩涂水产120亩，海水养殖350亩，池塘约30亩。[1]

全村人口1800，365户，属纯渔村。经济总收入387万元，每人每年平均2150元，皆未注年份。[1][3]
