仙庵镇在惠来县东部，其西邻周田镇，南邻靖海镇，东北与汕头潮南区相接，东边是南海。[1][2]镇名取自镇政府原驻地仙庵村，该村北面旧有一座古庵，村名即由此而来。[2][3]镇域面积，百度百科作84平方千米，博雅地名网作约81平方千米。[1][2]镇内的金海湾植物园建在海滨沙滩上，园中的高尔夫球场是其主要景观之一。[4]
历史沿革[edit]
明正德年间（1506—1521），仙庵一带已有村落形成，因北面有古仙庵而得名。[3]
1949年至1950年，本地隶属惠来县和林区。之后归属几经变动：1951年改入靖海一带的第八区，1953年又属田心一带的第九区。1957年，区制撤销，设立仙庵乡。[2]1958年9月成立惠来县东红公社，由仙庵与田心、靖海、周田几个乡组成；同年11月，惠来县建制被撤，本地划归潮阳县。1961年惠来县复设，本地随即设仙庵公社；1967年改名东红公社，1980年又恢复仙庵公社之名。1983年，公社转为区建制；1986年，区又改为镇。[1][2]
地理环境[edit]
镇域北部是山地，其中一座海拔436米的山峰名叫金刚髻，又称金公过。东南面临海，海岸线长8.7公里。葵和公路自东向西穿过镇境。[3]

据百度百科，2019年末，本镇登记在册的户籍人口有104648人。[1]博雅地名网引录的第七次全国人口普查结果为7.73万人，该数据于2021年6月公布；1987年的人口为5.51万人。[2][3]
经济[edit]
博雅地名网记1987年的情形：耕地约2.83万亩，水田占1.6万亩，稻谷、番薯、花生和大蒜是主要作物。山地有3.42万亩，其中果树以柑桔、荔枝为主，5400多亩。沿海年捕捞量约800吨，当年工农业总产值为1706.76万元。[3]
2019年，镇内有工业企业76个，其中规模以上企业4个。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
金海湾植物园占地约11000亩，由邓戈平博士创建。园内有一座建在沙滩上的18洞高尔夫球场，另建有潮汕文化园和热带雨林景观，引种植物4000余种。[4]
京陇村的荆山古寺始建于元朝延祐三年（1316年）。清代曾重建，1950年后遭损毁，1986—1987年在新址重建，1988年8月经批准对外开放。[5]
著名人物[edit]
胡禄（1335～1367）是元代人，出身潮阳县大坭都的荆陇村，即今京陇村。[2]
胡瓒（1638～1708），初名应瓒，别号刚麓，同为荆陇一带的人，清顺治十七年（1660年）登举人榜。[2]
