石古村位于惠来县惠城镇西北部山区，东与东陇镇接壤，离县城10公里，辖石古、必樟、大山三个自然村。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村西约1.5公里的龙坑山上有一座古庙，名龙归院，院中有石鼓一个和石鎚一对，相传以石鎚击鼓会发出咚咚之声，预示吉兆。明初刘、高二姓先后定居，把石鼓移到村中，村名由此而来。1949年后以同音字“古”代替“鼓”。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

元末，马、赖二姓先迁来定居，当时简称锡鰕。明初刘、高二姓相继定居。[2]

石古曾是革命根据地，属革命老区村。新中国成立后办过初级社和高级社。1958年为石古大队，1983年改设石古乡政府，1987年称石古管理区，此后1999年起为石古村委会。河林乡撤销后，村归惠城镇管辖。[2]
