将军湖村位于惠来县惠城镇山区北部，东北与汕头市潮南区交界，辖将军湖和陇头坑两个村民小组，属革命老区村。[1]
地名由来[edit]
村庄四周是山，中央平坦如湖，遍植将军树，遂有此名。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
明万历三十九年（1611年）创村。第二次国内战争时期，此地曾是县苏维埃政府、红军和游击队的驻地，是红色革命根据地。[1]
新中国成立后办过初级社和高级社。此后1958年定为将军湖大队，1983年成立乡政府，1987年改为管区，1999年定为村委会。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2019年12月，本村入选「第一批国家森林乡村」名单。2020年8月，经广东省农业农村厅公布，以茶叶列入首批「广东省一村一品、一镇一业专业村」名单。2021年12月，获广东省爱卫会授予「2021年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
