社前社区位于上砂镇区，是镇政府所在地，也是全镇政治、经济、文化与商贸活动的中心。社区位于上砂河上游，属揭西县上砂镇的镇区范围。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
社前一带原是一处小集市。明初，三户商贩先在此落脚做买卖，之后聚成集市，集市旁建起神社庙，人们因此称之为社前圩。[1]
1958年设上砂公社，公社机关驻在此地。1986年12月15日设上砂镇社前居委会，此名沿用至今；博雅地名网的地名由来一段则写作1989年设立居委会，两说不同。[1]
2021年12月，广东省爱卫会授予社前社区「2021年广东省卫生村」荣誉称号。[1]
