五云镇是广东省揭阳市揭西县的一个镇，位于县境西南部，距县城约8公里，镇政府驻下洞村。全镇设1个社区和20个行政村。[1][2]

镇境东面接河婆镇与坪上镇，西北邻上砂镇，北与梅州市五华县的桥江镇为界，西南、南面同汕尾市陆河县的螺溪镇、水唇镇接壤。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立之初，这里属陆丰县第八区，之后改划入第十三区。1958年9月27日设立五云人民公社，1965年7月19日，该公社随揭西县建置划归揭西县。[2][7]

1983年起，公社改称五云区；到1986年，五云区分出五云镇和下砂乡两个建制。2003年底（12月30日），下砂乡并入五云镇，名称仍为五云镇。[1][2][7]

镇下各村社的建制，大多是1986年区改镇时设立村民委员会，1991年前后设管理区，1999年改回村民委员会名称。[3]

关于地名的来历，博雅地名网称相传此处古代有五处仙洞，地名由此得来；百度百科则载其别名为「五云洞」。[1][2]

两种来源记载的面积不同：百度百科载为145.98平方千米（2018年），博雅地名网载为109.95平方千米，未注年份。[1][2]

人口[edit]

第七次全国人口普查得出的数字是3.44万人，博雅地名网于2021年6月发布此数。[2] 百度百科载2018年户籍人口为5.73万人，两个数字相差较大，各录其源。[1]

交通[edit]

省道335线与238线在下洞村交叉，镇政府所在地也是两条省道的交会处。[6]

名胜古迹[edit]

镇里设有五云革命烈士纪念碑。2021年9月30日，镇党委书记带队到纪念碑前举行烈士公祭，向纪念碑敬献花圈。[4]

京埔村的五云彭氏宗祠始建于明万历辛卯年（1591年），博雅地名网称该祠正在申报县级文物保护单位。[5]

著名人物[edit]

彭克猷（1890—1976），原名靖卿，生于京埔村（博雅地名网写作黄京埔村）。1912年入五经富福音医院学医，1917年毕业，此后先后在福建上杭和河婆的教会医院任医生。[2]

彭云珍（1931—1949），女，原名云花，鹏岭村人。1947年6月潮汕人民抗征队成立后，她多次请求入伍。[2]
