新榕村在坪上镇北部，位于榕江南河北岸；博雅地名网称该村处于全镇粮食主要产地南森洋一带。村名历经变化，今称新榕。[1]

村名与沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，此地在1566年前后称曾屋寮。约1816年，蔡姓族人迁来建村，取名古榕村；解放初改名榕树寮。新榕大队存续于1958年至1983年间，1984年起设新榕乡政府；1986年为新榕村委会，1990年设管理区办事处，1999年复为村委会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，新榕村被列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单。[1]
