大光村位于大溪镇榕江北岸，与镇区隔江相望。该地原为山寮，因面前有广阔的田坵，旧称大坵母；五十年代起定名「大光」，独立建制后沿用，又名大坵母。[1]
2021年12月，该村获「2021年广东省卫生村」荣誉称号。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1986年12月起为大溪镇大光管理区，1999年起称大溪镇大光村民委员会；1983年设区、乡后，该地属大溪区。更早时，1958年9月公社化后归钱坑人民公社，1976年9月分拆后改属大溪公社。[2]
