村子以农业种植为主，近年发展了蓝天无公害蔬菜基地，村内有金栅、飞鹅两大工业开发区。[1]
文物与遗产[edit]
博雅地名网称，南侨中学革命遗址为县级文物保护单位，也是揭阳市德育教育基地；境内另有蜈蚣古寺等物质文化遗产。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1999年又成为和南村委会，沿用至今；1990年设和南管理区；1986年改为村委会；1984年撤销三个生产大队并合为一个乡政府；1981年分设三个大队；1958年设和南大队。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2019年9月，和南村上榜「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」名单。[1]
