金园村在金和镇的最南端，临榕江而与普宁里湖镇为邻，村中有九个自然村。[1][2]

人口与耕地[edit]

据百度百科，2014年的数字显示，全村7031名居民，耕地1900亩；村内自然村有桥头园、柑园、高田等。[1]

经济[edit]

村里以农业为主，香蕉种植三百多亩，鱼池养殖近二百亩，另有二百多亩以龙眼为主的果树，村北岸榕江一带还有三百亩青竹。[2]

1990年经上级批准，村中开发了金桥开发区；据博雅地名网，区内办厂企业有56家，以凉果为主，年创税利约占全镇的二分之一。[2]

柑园、高田等地自2018年起设立了集体经济合作社，承担集体资产经营与农业生产服务。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

解放初村地归五联区，当时称金园乡。1958年为大队；1984年撤销生产大队，设乡政府；1986年称村委会；1990年设金园管理区；1999年又定为村委会，名称至今未变。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2022年10月，金园村列入「2022年淘宝村」名单。[2]

广东省爱卫会在2023年5月把「2022年广东省卫生村」称号授予金园村。[2]

金园村在2019年9月入选「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」名单。[2]

著名人物[edit]

香港银行家、教育家林子丰（1892～1971年）出身本村，创办了香港浸会学院。[3]
