厚埔村在棉湖镇北郊，东南与普宁市赤岗镇接壤，面积约1.8平方千米。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

解放前村地归普宁管辖。1949年改属揭阳县棉湖，1953年划入第六区，1957年归东园乡管辖；1958年起属棉湖公社，1961年转属甲浦公社，1963年又归东园公社，1972年才划归棉湖镇。1976年组建厚埔大队，1983年改为厚埔乡政府，1986年为村委会，1990年为管理区办事处，1999年再度改称村委会。[1]

地理环境[edit]

洪棉、棉东两条公路在村内交汇。村中设有厚埔金园工业集中区，并有一座22万伏的输变电站（揭阳市）；另有揭西县城北中学和厚埔小学。[1]

文化[edit]

传统民间文艺有厚埔英歌舞，列为市级非物质文化遗产。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

棉湖石母山革命烈士墓在村内，是镇内唯一的革命烈士墓。墓为纪念1950年5月至12月南下部队后方医院驻棉湖厚埔村期间因战争伤亡的烈士，以及棉湖镇历次革命战争中牺牲的烈士而建。[1][3]
