莪萃村位于榕江南河与北河的交会处，东至榕江南河，西与洪湖村、潭口村为邻，南至涂库村，北至榕江北河。村有5个自然村，始建于明代，是以农业为主的村庄，也有革命历史。[1][2]

地理环境[edit]

据镇政府新闻，村名的来历与此地的景致有关：河岸苍苔铺地，绿竹成阴，水草在沙洲之间绵亘不断。村中以农田为主，耕地占村域面积的大部分。[2]

人口[edit]

博雅地名网载，全村总人口3406人，共660户，村委会成员5人，党员79人。全村耕地1090亩，设党总支1个、党支部2个。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年至1983年，此地归凤江人民公社的莪萃大队管辖。1984年2月大队撤销，凤江区改设莪萃乡政府；1986年起称莪萃村委会，1990年隶属凤江镇人民政府的莪萃管理区，1999年确定为莪萃村委会，沿用至今。[3]

解放战争时期，村民加入武工队，利用村中的渡口开展地下交通工作，并设立联络点，向前线传递情报。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2023年5月，广东省爱卫会授予村「2022年广东省卫生村」称号。2019年9月，村上榜2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
